Discover the East Bay

The East Bay, as a part of the greater Bay Area, is a highly developed region, and is a major center for new and established economic ventures. A unique mix of East Bay attractions provides opportunities that range from hopping on a miniature steam train for a ride through the redwood grove on the Tilden Park Steam Train at the Redwood Valley Railway to peering through a giant telescope to zoom in on distant starry constellations at Chabot Space & Science Center. Go to the many museums including the story of how California got that way in the Oakland Museum of California and learn more about animal and natural habitat conservation at the Oakland Zoo. It’s no secret that the East Bay has emerged from San Francisco’s shadow, solidifying itself not only as a great place to live but also as a cultural hotbed. Despite the attention that cities like Oakland attract as they gentrify, the East Bay remains underexplored for most Bay Area residents and contains many hidden gems waiting to be discovered including the 124,909 acres of parkland.
